West Virginia Mission Trip Blog

July 16, 2013 – Entry by: Pastor Wayne

Last night we had a great meeting about our mission trip to West Virginia. Much information was discussed and shared.  Pray for our mission team as they prepare to serve our Lord on the mission field in Barboursville, WV, July 29th – Aug 5th.

During this week we will host a sports camp, work on a kitchen, sand floors to be refinished, serve with a 2 carwashes, help in an assisted living ministry, lead worship twice and end with a huge, community back-to-school block party. All in a week’s time!

I believe that any effectiveness in ministry must be bathed in prayer. As our team prays for God’s direction and opportunities, I invite you to join us. May we live to serve our Lord, 24/7.

More Jesus, Less Me…..John 3:30

This past year brought many opportunities of ministry and missions. One of the reasons so much could be accomplished for the Lord is that many of God’s people realized their role in ministry serving the Lord.

We all can do something for the Lord when we yield our life to Him. The apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:16 about this kind of “when we” thought. The bible says “…from whom the whole body, (the church), being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.”

Our church theme for 2021 will continue to be “More Jesus, Less Me” based on John’s writing in John 3:30.  The Bible declares, “He must increase, but I must decrease”.  This is John’s reference to Jesus’ ministry of changing the world.  John knew that he needed more Jesus in his life to continue to serve alongside the Savior.  We too, may pray, recite and adopt into our lives these words of John as we realize we need more Jesus and less me.  As we develop and adopt more Jesus and less me, our faith in God will grow, our trust in Him will not falter and our relationship with Jesus strengthens.

Choosing a church home that provides opportunity for a loving, Holy Spirit worship is not an easy task.  We want to let you know who we are and how we can minister to you.  We have ministries to meet the needs of your entire family.  Jesus loves you and so do we.  We desire to hear from you, if you have any questions please contact the church office.

At Bethel Baptist Church, God has given us a vision to reach the lost of our community, city, nation and the world.  The church family believes God’s Word is the only truth and we share it with all our hearts.  Jesus Christ is honored and lifted up in all of our ministry.  You are welcome to come and worship with us and be a part of our fellowship.
