Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Bethel Baptist Church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Bethel Baptist members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the church vehicles, to preparing the church bulletins.

Zero Gravity Student Ministry

The Zero Gravity Student Ministry is a growing and active part of Bethel Baptist Church.  Weekly worship is held every Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in the Student Worship Center for grades 6-12.  As guided by Romans 8:31, “If God is for us, who can be against us,” Zero Gravity Student Ministry desires to be the hands and feet of Jesus to all those they come in contact with.  The group hosts a chili cook off and cake auction, golf tournament and pork butt sales every year to raise funds to help send students to summer camp.  Game nights are held periodically along with small group bible studies to help students grow closer to each other as they grow closer to Jesus Christ.

Homebound Ministry

Bethel’s Homebound Ministry is an extension of the Women’s Ministry at Bethel. Each holiday these ladies make up gift  bags which are delivered by volunteer church members to our homebound at home, nursing homes and rehab centers. Many of the homebound have shared the bags are nice but it is the visits that mean so much to them. Church Members making the deliveries have shared about the blessing they receive from these visits with the homebound.

Worship Choir

The Worship Choir brings excitement to the worship services here at Bethel.  Their music covers a wide range of styles, but all of it is planned to stir our hearts to worship.  Rehearsals are on Wednesdays beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Choir Room at the back to the Worship Center.

Our Worship Choir works diligently each year to present both a Christmas and Easter Cantata, sometimes including the Drama Team in these special presentations.

Instrumentalists

Our Bethel Orchestra and instrumentalists is made up of church members who desire to use their talent for the glory of God.  Our instrumentalists range in the ability from intermediate to advanced.  Musicians of all ages (middle school through senior adult) are welcome to come and play.

Instrumentalists play exciting variety of styles as they regularly lead in worship accompanying the choir and congregation, and play preludes and offertories.

While we strive to offer excellence through out instruments, the main focus is to praise and glorify God through music.  Rehearsals are at 8:15 a.m. on Sundays in the sanctuary.

The Student Worship Team is a ministry by our youth that incorporates music with praise and leads worship each week in our morning worship services and once a month in an evening Youth Led Worship Service.

Bible Study (Sunday School)

The Bible Study Ministry at Bethel is a great way for believers to grow and mature.  We have classes for preschool, children, students, and adults that meet every Sunday at 8:45 a.m.  These small groups afford the opportunity to grow in God’s word as well as the place to connect with others and share in our Christian walk and ministry together. Many lasting friendships are formed in these groups and we become a part of the community of faith where prayer and support for one another strengthens our commitment to Christ.

Special studies for ladies, men, students and other groups are offered at varying times throughout the year with areas of special emphasis.

Discipleship

Many Times discipleship is a misused word. We offered studies at different times that are special studies that focus on specific subjects. Life Hour is what we call this time and it has been offered on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. The goal is to offer times where we can grow as disciples by focusing on things that my be difficult to understand or apply in our lives; we are working towards being transformed followers of Jesus.  Some areas covered in the past were marriage, parenting, dealing with hurt and anger, finding God’s will, and special areas for ladies.  These are small groups that meet for a short time (usually 6-8 weeks).

If you want to know Jesus better and get connected to others in the community of faith here, join us in Bible Study and Life Hour.

Recreation

The Recreation Ministry operates as an outreach ministry helping bring people together to glorify God through the sport of slow pitch softball.  A 10-week coed church softball league is held every year and has included teams from churches all over Lakeland.  The goal of this ministry is to provide a fun, safe and encouraging environment for which to fellowship with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as minister to those through sports who might not have heard the gospel before.  Various men’s and coed tournaments are held on Saturdays throughout the year.
